Grammy's Quilt for Soren

When Grammy said that she wanted to send something to Soren, I knew it was going to be special. When we opened up the box, Will and Albert and I could hardly believe our eyes. She had made an Activity Quilt, colorful animals to teach Soren motor skills such as doing buttons and tying ribbon and zipping:

Gram had made such a quilt in book form for Ashley and I, but I noticed that some of the pieces were new, especially the bear holding the balloons with Soren's name and birthday:

also the mini-version of my beloved Pop-Pop and Pop-Pop's Babies, shown here with the original Pop-Pop (try not to be too grossed out -- Pop-Pop is older than I am and much loved):

Finally I noticed that Gram had put little messages of her love for the new baby in details such as the tongue of the crocodile, hidden unless you zip open the mouth:

It is such a beautiful, loving, and creative piece. I know Gram did this all by hand and can't get over how wonderful it is.

Meeting Soren (and a Bear)

Weekend trip to Santa Barbara to meet the newest member of the Robinson family -- Soren!  Born on Easter.  Tiniest baby ever -- we saw him at only six days old:
Here's a great photo of Will taking Soren for the first time -- note the look of terror:

Anna and Nathan were so happy, just clearly loving their child so much.  Will finished his bear sweater during the visit and got to show it to Soren, complete and on the bear:

Amazing what life brings!

Primary Color Cozy Hat

This one was knitted from one ball of interesting confetti red yarn, with a crochetted yellow flower.  I don't remember how to crochet, but am sure when the time comes I'll re-learn pretty fast.

Purple Baby Flower Hat

Here's the first baby hat I knitted, purple with white flowers, and the matching scarf.  It was too small for the little girl it was meant for, so I'm waiting for another little girl baby to enter my life  :)

My Herb Garden!

The rosemary and roses are in bloom.  I never knew that rosemary blossoms would be light purple and so delicate.

This is the golden sage and parsley with the rosemary in the background.  The sage is a beautiful color.

Guest Artist: Donna's Rose Centerpieces

Check out the centerpieces that my mom made for the Women's Legal Association dinner:

The theme was something like "Enchanted Evening," and people showed up in tiaras.  Needless to say, my mom is not a tiara type of person, but she did a great job on the centerpieces -- nice work, Ma  :)
